Hanover Ridge Trade Center, Luzerne County, PA

  • 175-acre reclaimed mining site redevelopment to include several warehouses totaling 2,000,000+ SF.
  • Subsurface explorations, laboratory testing, geophysical (ERI & EM) surveys, and geotechnical evaluation, and COT services.
  • 32 test pits, 50 site wide SPT test borings, and several deep borings.
  • GTA’s recommendations included dynamic compaction (over 2 million SF) and shallow foundations, deep surface compaction, and slope reconstruction.

Union Bridge Quarry Replacement, New Windsor, MD

  • Geotechnical consultation, geophysical survey, and COT services for the five-mile conveyor and associated site improvements between the Union Bridge and New Windsor plants.
  • GTA complied several years of new and previous subsurface data to provide design and construction recommendations for the overland and tunneled conveyor sections, as well as the foundations for the rock crusher, retaining walls, transfer towers, and conveyor bents.

Horseshoe Casino, Baltimore City, MD

  • Geophysical testing, geotechnical and environmental consulting for new two-story 140,000-SF casino and associated seven-level, 3,500-car, above grade parking garage.
  • Relatively deep layer of fills and soft clayey soils required use of deep foundations. Subsurface explorations were in excess of 90 feet, where rock cores were obtained.
  • Observed & evaluated several static & dynamic load tests on CFAs to develop installation criteria and allowable loads for CFAs of different diameters.

Baldwin Station Geophysics & Hydrogeologic Services, Elkton, MD

  • Provided remote sensing, geophysics, & hydrogeologic services to evaluate & select locations for groundwater production well drilling.
  • GTA performed fracture trace analysis of the site vicinity, and electrical resistivity and VLF surveys.
  • Data was analyzed. Zones that were identified were selected for future test well drilling.
  • Analysis of subsurface conditions extending downward to 200 feet or more below existing ground surface.

Confidential Manufacturing Campus, Lancaster County, PA

  • Geotechnical explorations and recommendations were performed for six different building projects, with buildings that ranged in size up to a four-story, 360,000-SF building.
  • Designed specialty foundation and shoring systems, such as micropiles, compaction grouting, soil nails, and soldier pile walls.
  • Used geophysical analyses, including ground penetrating radar, electrical resistivity, and terrain conductivity, to identify sinkholes and caverns.

Union Wharf, Baltimore City, MD

  • Awards: Multifamily Community of the Year & Best Rental Apartment Community – NAHB; WaveMaker Award – Baltimore ULI.
