The Highlands, Arlington County, VA

  • Part of the West Rosslyn Area Plan Study (WRAPS), a County-driven and community-involved redevelopment opportunity.
  • Geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, and COT services for the 1,200,000-SF above grade complex with three high-rise towers containing upscale condominium and luxury apartment communities, and ground floor retail. The complex also includes four levels of below grade parking for approximately 1,050 cars.

Chemours Discovery Hub, Newark, DE

  • New three-story, 325,000-SF research facility.
  • The project is a redevelopment of a portion of the former Chrysler manufacturing facility, now part of the University of Delaware’s Science Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus.
  • GTA provided environmental, geotechnical, construction observation and testing services.

Laurel Elementary School, Sussex County, DE

  • 2019 ENR MidAtlantic Best Projects winner in the K-12 Education category.
  • New $35.4M, 151,958-SF elementary school which accommodates 1,200-students.
  • Geotechnical services, CPT soundings, SPT borings, infiltrometer testing, laboratory analysis.
  • Construction testing for site grading, subgrade soils and utility construction; bituminous concrete pavement; laboratory testing; and structural steel.

Ripken Center, Stadium, and Courtyard & Residence Inn by Marriott, Aberdeen, MD

  • Geotechnical engineering and COT services for the 155,000-SF, seven-story hotel, founded on 394 vibro-piers. Building design imitates the “Warehouse” building at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore.
  • Geotechnical engineering for the 44-acre summer camp including recommendations for foundations, slabs, retaining walls, pavements, and a stormwater management facility.
  • Geotechnical engineering and COT services for the 6,300-seat Ripken Stadium, including the use of lime-stabilization of parking and drive areas for pavement support.

Bay Forest Club, Sussex County, DE

  • Geotechnical engineering, wetland delineation and permitting, and COT services for the 407-acre Residential Planned Community.
  • This 913-unit community focuses on environmental protection and enhancement, and was design to preserve over 139 acres (36%) of open space with 90 acres (50%) of the existing forest remaining for trails and passive open space.

Carrier Clinic Expansion, Belle Mead, NJ

  • Geotechnical engineering, construction observation and testing, and special inspection services.
  • One-story, 23,500-SF, 40-bed patient addition; 8,500-SF addition; 207-SF lounge addition; 280-SF vestibule addition; and site improvements including a SWM basin, a new paved entry circle, and parking areas.
  • Fills ranging up to 3 feet above the existing surface grades were required to achieve the planned floor slab subgrade levels.

Dover Behavioral Health Center Additions, Kent County, DE

  • Subsurface exploration, laboratory testing, geotechnical engineering, and COT services for Phase I and II expansions to the behavioral center.
  • Foundation recommendations, infiltration testing for use in design of SWM facility and Best Management Practice, and pavement evaluation and recommendations.
  • Provided special inspections in accordance with IBC during construction of the expansion project.

Medical Office at East Run, St. Mary’s County, MD

  • Subsurface exploration, laboratory testing, geotechnical engineering, wetland delineation, and COT services.
  • Three-story, 44,500-SF, fast-tracked medical office building, pharmacy and associated infrastructure improvements.
  • Anticipated LEED Silver certification.

Village South at Waugh Chapel, Anne Arundel County, MD

  • Drilling, lab testing, geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, & COT services for the 100-acre, 1.2 million-SF residential, retail, & commercial development, located at the site of a former sand & gravel mine reclaimed with fly ash.
  • Site issues encountered included: fly ash fill, loose fly ash, uncontrolled fill, a stump dump, a deep mined hole, a tall retaining wall on uncontrolled fill, an existing deep sewer with poor backfill, and a proposed deep sewer close to a building.
