Union Bridge Quarry Replacement, New Windsor, MD

Geotechnical consultation, geophysical survey, and COT services for the five-mile conveyor and associated site improvements between the Union Bridge and New Windsor plants.
GTA complied several years of new and previous subsurface data to provide design and construction recommendations for the overland and tunneled conveyor sections, as well as the foundations for the rock crusher, retaining walls, transfer towers, and conveyor bents.

Lancaster Newspaper Parking Structure, Lancaster, PA

Provided geotechnical services for the construction of a six-level precast concrete parking structure.
Designed a permanent shoring system that would also function as a permanent pressure relief wall which included a soldier pile wall with shotcrete lagging and a soil nail wall with shotcrete facing.
Designed the micropile system to support the proposed garage footings on the underlying limestone bedrock.

Provided geotechnical consultation, value engineering, and construction testing services for construction of a 1,100,000-sf manufacturing and warehouse facility.
Prepared mix designs using lime to stabilize the clayey soils that were used as building pad fill.
Recommended the use of full depth reclamation (FDR) for the one-half mile long entrance access roadway.
COT services – structural fill, utilities, concrete, foundations, slabs, masonry, structural steel, & pavements.

Provided exploration and recommendations to minimize the damage caused by sinkhole formation within an active retail store loading dock area.
Recommended a temporary solution to backfill the void below the loading dock, allowing the trailers to be parked safely.
Prepared a subsequent plan of compaction grouting involving 82 individual grout points, and approximately 260 cubic yards of grout.
