Andrew D. McKeen, P.E., has been named a Vice President of GTA and is responsible for overseeing and managing geotechnical engineering projects performed out of our Laurel office.  Andy is also responsible for providing construction phase consultation for projects under construction in the Baltimore-Washington corridor.
 
Andy is a geotechnical engineer with 15 years (13 with GTA) of experience providing geotechnical analysis, design, and consulting services for a variety of projects throughout central and southern Maryland, and the District of Columbia.  Andy’s expertise includes shallow and deep foundations, ground improvement, slope stability, retaining wall design, geotechnical and structural instrumentation, stormwater management (SWM) facilities, flexible and rigid pavements, groundwater, and subsurface drainage plans.  Andy has also been instrumental in expanding our in-situ testing services, to include Dilatometer (DMT), and Pressuremeter (PMT) testing, both of which GTA performs in-house.
 
He is a licensed professional engineer in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia and holds a M.Eng. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Maryland, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University. Andy is a member of American Society of Civil Engineers, Maryland Building Industry Association (MBIA), NAIOP-Maryland, Urban Land Institute – Baltimore, and the 7×24 Exchange DC Chapter.
 
Andy was the geotechnical engineer of record for the Avalon Harbor East, a 23-story 550,000-SF, 380-unit apartment building in downtown Baltimore.  Andy also leads the geotechnical services for GTA on the St. Charles, and Pinegrove residential developments in southern Maryland. These two developments will total over 7,000 residential units when fully developed.  In addition to these projects, Andy is currently overseeing geotechnical services for residential, retail, commercial, and industrial projects in Anne Arundel, Prince George’s, Howard, St. Mary’s, Montgomery, Charles, and Frederick Counties in Maryland, as well as the District of Columbia.
