Bob Magyar is a licensed professional engineer in Maryland with nine years of broad and varied field experience in the construction observation, material testing, and geotechnical engineering fields. He also holds the designation of Project Management Professional (PMP)®. Bob joined GTA’s Abingdon office in 2013 and currently manages construction observation and testing (COT) services for commercial, residential, and governmental projects throughout Harford, Baltimore, and Cecil County, Maryland. His areas of specialization include shallow and deep foundation systems, ground improvement, soil stabilization, retaining wall construction, and paving construction. With a background in Structural Engineering, Bob also specializes in special inspections for timber framing, cold form metal framing and structural steel. As an Associate with GTA, Bob is responsible for reviewing and stamping reports for a variety of construction projects, mentoring and providing training to junior staff members, interviewing, hiring, business development, and overseeing the daily field operations for the Abingdon COT department.

Bob graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, in 2013, and earned his Master of Engineering degree in Geotechnical Engineering from University of South Carolina, in 2019. Bob holds several construction-related certifications through W.A.C.E.L., ACI, and SHA. Professional organizations which Bob is a member include American Society of Civil Engineers, Harford County Contractors Association, and Project Management Institute.

Bob is currently overseeing COT services for several warehouse, residential, and government projects located throughout northeast Maryland. In particular, Bob has been serving as the Senior Engineer responsible for GTA’s COT services for a six-story, $250M complex in Cecil County, Maryland that is slated to open in 2023. In addition, Bob will be transitioning to oversee daily operations, review geotechnical reports, and complete retaining wall designs for Abingdon’s GEO group.
