Wastewater Treatment Plant Equalization Basin

Construction, Geotechnical

Location

City of Monroe, North Carolina

About

GTA provided preliminary geotechnical testing and reporting, including slope stability analysis, and is currently providing construction observation and testing services for a new 15-million-gallon earthen equalization basin for the City of Monroe. The new basin is being constructed on a 25-acre site to the west of the existing City of Monroe Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). In addition to the basin, the project includes a 36-inch force main approximately 600 linear feet into the basin and a 24-inch return line of approximately 250 linear feet. This improvement project allows the WWTP to safely and efficiently handle fluctuating wastewater flows that enter the plant, and is important to the future economic growth and development of the City.
