The best way to understand our culture is to hear it straight from the people who live it every day. So we took a look at what current and former employees have shared on Glassdoor and the reviews are something we’re genuinely proud of.
What makes these reviews especially meaningful is that they tell the same story from different people across different offices and at different points in their careers. Someone who’s been at the company six months describes the same sense of welcome as someone who’s been here six years. An entry-level technician and a senior project manager point to the same thing: a company that actually invests in its people.
From career growth and mentorship to a welcoming team atmosphere and memorable moments outside the office, here’s what GTA employees are saying.
Growing Careers, One Opportunity at a Time
GTA consistently draws praise for the way it invests in the long-term development of its people.
For newer employees, it means being trusted with impactful projects early on and having mentors who take the time to explain things and encourage them to explore different areas of the business. For more experienced employees, it means having a clearer path forward and a company that supports them with professional development training.
Reviewers point to examples that go beyond the expected. They’re switching disciplines, earning new certifications, and building careers they didn’t necessarily see coming when they first joined the team. And across all of those stories, a common thread runs through: GTA gave them the room to grow and the support to do it. You just have to show up ready to do the work.
I began my career with GTA nearly six years ago as a field technician. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to transfer to a new office, grow into an Assistant Project Manager role, and about a year and a half ago, stepped into a Safety Manager position. That transition aligned perfectly with my interests, and the experience has been incredibly rewarding.
GTA offers tremendous opportunities, but success truly depends on your attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn. When I started, I had a graphic design degree and knew nothing about this industry. Today, I’m proud to serve as a Regional Safety Manager. The career path here can be genuinely fulfilling if you’re open to growth.
To me, what stands out the most about GTA is their commitment to professional development. The company provides excellent support for career advancement and genuinely rewards hard work and initiative. There are multiple shareholding vice presidents at the company that started out as entry-level field techs and worked their way up. The work environment is competent and professional, but relaxed and positive. I look forward to coming to work each day. My compensation and benefits are extremely competitive. They absolutely recognize and reward effort.
If you’re looking for a privately held geotechnical and environmental consulting firm where you can build your career while working with good people in a supportive atmosphere, GTA is worth considering.
More Than a Workplace, There’s Support You Can See and Feel
A supportive workplace is easy to put in a mission statement but it’s much harder to make it something employees feel every single day, across dozens of offices at every level of the organization.
Our reviews suggest the gap between saying and doing does not exist at GTA. Employees describe specific moments and experiences that made them feel it: a manager who checked in just to talk, a leadership team that visits offices in person to listen rather than just direct, colleagues who stayed late to help carry equipment or review a report.
Part of what makes this possible is how GTA thinks about its size. With more than 600 employees across 29 offices, it would be easy for the company to drift toward the kind of corporate distance that makes people feel like numbers. Instead, GTA works deliberately to hold onto the feel of a smaller organization. Offices stay tight-knit and leadership stays accessible.
When employees describe what makes GTA different, they talk about the people around them where the culture of looking out for one another is just part of how things are done.
I’ve really enjoyed my time at GTA so far. Despite having 600+ employees spread across 29 offices, the company actively works to maintain the feel of a small business. The overall vibe is phenomenally positive and leadership is genuinely accessible.
The company president is the most down-to-earth guy you’ll ever meet and he regularly visits the offices to check in and understand what each team needs. We also get regular in-person visits from the Safety Team and the Learning and Talent Development people just to sit down and talk, offer support, and get feedback from us.
One of the best parts of working at GTA is that everyone is an amazing resource. Even if they don’t know, they make an effort to direct you to someone who does. Everyone is willing to adapt, learn new things and improve current processes. There is an amazing work environment, both in and out of the office, and everyone genuinely cares about each other. Most of all, they provide you with all the resources you need to succeed, encourage and support your growth, and listen when you need help or have concerns.
Working at GTA has been an amazing experience from day one. The leadership team is supportive, transparent, and genuinely invested in your success. There’s a strong sense of teamwork, and everyone is passionate about what we’re building.
The company is growing fast, which makes every day exciting and full of new opportunities to learn and make an impact. Communication is great, expectations are clear, and hard work never goes unnoticed.
If you’re looking for a company where you can grow professionally, be part of something dynamic, and work with talented, motivated people — GTA is the place to be. Couldn’t recommend it more!
While there are quite a few locations now, the offices themselves are pretty small, so the atmosphere is pretty relaxed. There are a lot of opportunities to learn new things. The people are very kind!
Awesome managers, some of the best people I’ve ever worked with. You can get a ton of hours if you work hard, they are big on rewarding you when you do. The managers will be working just as many, if not more hours than you.
Genuine Connection Beyond the Office
There’s a version of a company culture that lives entirely in the workday and then there’s the kind that carries over into real life. At GTA, employees across offices describe a team dynamic that extends beyond project deadlines, and the kind of camaraderie that makes Monday mornings easier.
The team activities at GTA are the kind of things people actually look forward to. That matters more than it might seem on the surface. When a team genuinely connects outside the office, it changes how they work together inside it. People communicate more openly, support each other and bring a different kind of energy to the work itself.
I work in a very supportive team and family environment. My coworkers are always offering and available to help each other, whether it is reviewing a report or helping to carry a piece of equipment. Management recognizes the need for a healthy work-life balance. At GTA, there is an opportunity to grow within the company if you show the willingness and initiative. There are always awesome events planned!
Fun place to work, great team atmosphere, big company without as much of the corporate feel, plenty of opportunity to move up in the company. Learned a lot with regard to land acquisition and development. Amazing people to work with. The company is always looking to grow and be better and the leadership makes sure everyone on the team is valued and a part of the end goals.
Incredible, welcoming work environment. Really focuses on me as a person, not an employee. They have such a growth and longevity mindset when it comes to their employees. I feel supported & safe when I come to work.
The company has been so welcoming to me and I have felt supported and invested in. Leadership is focused on the success of the company through the success of its employees, which feels like the best of both worlds. I am so happy I came to work here.
