Blog hero for gta how gta invests in its people through employee benefits with gta logo and a construction worker in a safety vest on the right in a warehouse setting

Job seekers today have more information available to them than ever before. A quick search brings up salary ranges, employee reviews, and detailed breakdowns of what different companies offer.

When people evaluate where they want to build a career, they look at more than a paycheck. They want stability. They want to know that if something unexpected happens, there is a structure in place to support them. They want an employer who is invested in their growth, and in their output too.

A benefits package tells you how people treat their employees.
Most established employers meet the basic expectations: health insurance, paid time off, holidays, and some form of retirement plan. Those benefits matter, but what can set an employer apart is what comes after the basics. Additional programs, resources, and opportunities can show that a company is thinking about its employees’ goals, financial future, and lives outside of work.

Take a full look at the employee benefits GTA offers and see how we support our team.

Competitive Salary, Paid Time Off, and Paid Holidays
Your compensation should reflect the work you do, while your time outside of work should be respected, too. GTA pairs competitive salaries with generous paid time off and a full slate of paid holidays. Compensation reflects both the technical demands of the work and the market conditions of each region GTA operates in. PTO and holiday time are built into the year, so the work people put in gets rewarded while time still remains available to rest, travel, or be present for the people who matter most outside of work. Work-life balance shows up here in practice.

“Solid place to work if you’re used to construction pace. Steady workload, supportive team, and a decent culture. Benefits are fair and the expectations are clear.”

Annual Bonus Potential
On top of base compensation, full-time employees have the opportunity to earn an annual bonus based on the company’s performance and the contributions that help move projects and the business forward. Field technicians, drillers, laboratory personnel, project managers, senior staff, and everyone play a role in delivering quality work and successful project outcomes. The annual bonus program shares that success with team members and allows them to see their contributions reflected in their overall compensation.

Comprehensive Health Coverage
Healthcare needs do not always follow a predictable schedule. GTA offers eligible full-time employees medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with Flexible Spending Account options. Employees who enroll in the qualifying high-deductible medical plan may also be eligible for a Health Savings Account. Employees can choose coverage for themselves or eligible family members and generally make changes during open enrollment or after a qualifying life event.

Peace of Mind Through Insurance Coverage
Most people hope they never have to use this coverage, but fieldwork in geotechnical, environmental, and drilling services comes with its own physical demands. GTA provides company-paid life insurance along with long-term disability insurance. Disability coverage means an injury or extended illness stays a medical matter, without becoming a financial one too. Life insurance, fully paid for by the company, gives employees and their families a layer of security that costs nothing extra and requires no paperwork to activate.

Investing in Your Future
Through GTA’s 401(k) program, the company matches employee contributions, helping build toward retirement alongside the people saving for it. A career in geotechnical or environmental consulting, or in drilling and construction materials testing, can span decades, and GTA structures its retirement benefits with that timeline in mind. It’s a long-term investment in every employee’s future, and it applies as much to a field technician a few years in as it does to a senior engineer approaching retirement.

Education Assistance Program
For employees who are finishing a degree, earning a certification, or exploring a new area of technical interest, GTA’s Education Assistance Program helps offset the cost. Someone who joined GTA as an entry-level field technician might use this program to work toward a certification to advance their career. Someone in the lab might use it to deepen their expertise in materials testing standards. To be eligible for consideration, employees must be full-time regular employees hired to work 40 hours per week and have completed their 180-day introductory period.

Employee Assistance Program
Sometimes, what is happening outside of work can make it harder to focus on what is happening at work. Life spills past the workday, and this program covers that tough personal season when it comes. GTA’s Employee Assistance Program gives every full-time regular employee free access to resources that can help with short-term counseling, financial coaching, legal consultations, and life coaching. With that resource available at no cost, they can address a personal challenge and stay focused at work, rather than choosing between the two.

Peak Health Wellness Plan
For field staff especially, where physical demands are part of the job, consistent access to health monitoring supports long-term well-being. GTA’s Peak Health program includes personalized nurse consultations, no-cost lab work, and ongoing wellness support throughout the year. Employees must be enrolled in a GTA health plan to participate in Peak Health. Once enrolled, employees have access to a resource they can return to throughout the year.

Staying Connected and Inspired
GTA covers the cost of memberships to professional societies, helping employees stay connected to the broader industry and its always-evolving standards. For anyone building a long-term career in geotechnical, environmental, construction, or drilling services, that ongoing connection to the field matters, especially a professional network that extends beyond GTA’s own offices. GTA clears away a cost that might otherwise stand between someone earlier in their career and that connection.

“If you’re looking for a company where you can grow professionally, be part of something dynamic, and work with talented, motivated people — GTA is the place to be. Couldn’t recommend it more!”

Professional Development
Professional growth does not stop once someone joins the team. Seminars, conventions, Lunch & Learns, mentoring, and software training are all part of how GTA supports employees as they build their careers. Our professional development opportunities are designed to meet employees where they are and help them get to where they want to go next. For entry-level team members, that can mean learning directly from experienced professionals and gaining practical knowledge that goes beyond what they learned in school. For more experienced employees, exploring new areas of expertise or preparing for the next step in their careers as leaders.

“Competitive 401k program, effective leadership, educational support, workplace flexibility, and a clear emphasis on professional development.”

“GTA offers tremendous opportunity, but success truly depends on your attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn. The career path here can be genuinely fulfilling if you’re open to growth.”

Referral Bonuses
Great people often know other great people. GTA’s referral program rewards eligible employees who recommend someone who joins the team. Both the referring employee and the new hire must be full-time regular employees, and the referral bonus is paid after the new hire completes six months of employment.

Recognition That Matters
GTA’s Employee Recognition Program acknowledges the employees who make a difference for the team. Recognition can happen for a major accomplishment, but it can also be about the smaller contributions that make a team stronger. A thoughtful solution to a project challenge, extra support during a busy period, or taking the time to help a colleague learn something new can all make an impact. We want people to know that their contributions are valued and that the work they do matters to the team around them.

“The company is always looking to grow and be better and the leadership makes sure everyone on the team is valued and a part of the end goals.”

“The company has been so welcoming to me and I have felt supported and invested in. Leadership is focused on the success of the company through the success of its employees, which feels like the best of both worlds. I am so happy I came to work here.”

Team Spirit and Fun
The people you work with are a big part of the work experience. At GTA, we make time for our team members to connect outside of their day-to-day responsibilities and have some fun together. That includes weekly team gatherings for drinks and games, along with company events throughout the year that bring people together across offices and teams.

“Great co-workers. Fun social event activities.”
“They have such a growth and longevity mindset when it comes to their employees. I feel supported & safe when I come to work.”
