You spend a big part of your life at the company you work for, so it should be fulfilling in more ways than one.

It should be a place where you feel supported in your career growth, and where you’re not left to figure things out on your own. A good company culture is one where you can do meaningful work while knowing there are people around you who have your back.

At GTA, that shows up in the day-to-day. Leadership feels approachable, with managers who are present and easy to reach. When something needs to be said, there’s someone ready to listen, and colleagues genuinely look out for each other. If you need support or guidance, you can ask anyone and expect a helping hand. And when it comes to growth, there are opportunities for certifications, continuing education, and mentorship to help you keep moving forward.

The work can be challenging, but the team environment around the work makes it a whole lot easier to find your footing and build from there. If you’ve read what our employees have shared before, you already know these are things our team members experience firsthand and that come up again and again in their reviews. We’ve pulled together another round of feedback from current and former GTA employees, emphasizing different parts of what it’s like to work here.

Here’s what they shared:

“The work environment is very good. Since this is a privately-owned company, the owners are on-site at most locations and make you feel welcome with their open-door policy. If you perform well and meet the criteria, you are also provided opportunities for promotion. The company is family-friendly and GTA hosts family-oriented parties during the year, which is a nice benefit and allows the employees to meet outside of the work environment. All in all, my employment at GTA was a positive experience.”

“Management has an open-door policy. If you can think of a better or more efficient way of doing something, they are always willing to listen and help out.”

“Positive work environment, great entry-level position into the engineering side of construction. The management team is very knowledgeable and wants you to be as knowledgeable and succeed in the construction industry.”

“A good place to grow, good place for the long term, comparatively good benefits (to other small firms), great company culture.”

“They have a supportive management and team.”

“There was much diversity in the work tasks throughout the day. This job taught much independence while working in the field.”

“Great company to work for to gain experience and training in the geotechnical field.”

“There is decent job security and you can gain raises when you complete certifications. Also, several lab tests are interesting to perform.”

“Stable work on job sites, good experience, and decent leadership.”

“Positive, laid back, upbeat environment.”

“Flexible schedule, good feedback with management, encouragement to improve career through certifications, advanced studies, and school.”

“Co-workers were generally friendly and helpful. Management listens to concerns and tries to resolve issues you may have.”

“A lot of work, good opportunity to learn and get experience.”

“Higher pay on average than in the area.”

“Great co-workers with positive morale. Management takes time to participate in after-hours meetings. Opportunities for advancement.”

“There was much diversity in the work tasks throughout the day. This job taught much independence while working in the field.”

“Competitive 401k program, effective leadership, educational support, workplace flexibility, and a clear emphasis on professional development.”

Build Your Career with GTA

People who join GTA tend to stay and the ones who stay tend to grow because this is a place that gives you something back.

If you’re early in your career, this is the place where you’ll find teammates and leadership that’s invested in your success. There’s guidance when you need it, opportunities to learn, and a clear sense that your growth matters. Many of the people here started in that exact position, looking for a place that would give them a real shot. Employees talk about gaining certifications, learning on the job, and being trusted with more responsibility as they go.

If you’re more experienced, GTA offers something different from the usual corporate setup. There’s room to take initiative and make an impact without layers of red tape getting in the way.

The path forward here isn’t abstract. It’s there, but like anything worthwhile, it depends on what you’re willing to put into it. The difference is that at GTA, that effort doesn’t go unnoticed. It turns into opportunities and a career that can take shape in ways you might not have expected when you first started.
