Bay Forest Club

Location

Sussex County, DE

About

This development involves 407 acres of land, designated as Environmentally Sensitive Developing Area in the County Comprehensive Plan. GTA has provided subsurface exploration, geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, wetland delineation and permitting, and construction observation and testing services associated with the 913-unit residential community, clubhouse, visitor center, and its many other amenities. The Bay Forest Club project focuses on environmental protection and enhancement and was designed to preserve over 139 acres of open space with 90 acres of the existing forest remaining for trails and passive open space. Through clustering and coving principles, an average 190-foot vegetated buffer was provided along Collins Creek, which serves as the dominant environmental feature.

For the marina, GTA performed Cone Penetration Test soundings to evaluate subsurface conditions in the vicinity of the proposed bulkheads, boat lifts, timber pile supported dock, and revetment and associated infrastructure. GTA also followed through with construction observation and testing of the sheet pile and timber pile bulkhead and dock construction.
